Two days the verdict in the Derek Chauvin trial was announced. As you all know, he was found guilty on all three counts he was charged with ( Unintentional second-degree murder third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter). For better or worse, we are now subjected to the opinions of athletes and entertainers on matters outside of sport. This instance was no different with many athletes on social media. Unfortunately, many of them have continued to provide evidence for my hypothesis that they are daft, woefully misinformed, or being fed these talking points.
Reading through some of these tweets made me want to put my head through a wall.

Not just yet. You can perhaps say that after he has been sentenced. If you will recall NY race soldier Peter Liang, who murdered Akai Gurley was also convicted and he got probation and community service.
Brother Donovan, this is not it sir. God had nothing to do with this verdict. This statement may be well-meaning but it’s intellectually lazy and takes credit away from the people on the grassroots level that helped make this happen.
Yes, wrong is wrong but you gratitude should be directed towards the people that helped get things to this point. There is still much to be done.

There is no time for celebration. While we can be pleased at the verdict and hopefully the very long prison sentence that awaits Chauvin, there is far too much to do to let our proverbial hair down.
